While the SX option, also referred to as Code Y79, was the performance package that everybody was drooling after in the 1970 Cutlass Supreme lineup, this new model year also witnessed the return of the convertible body style.
The convertible was sold alongside a two-door hardtop, known as Holiday Coupe, and a 4-door hardtop marketed as Holiday Sedan.

The convertible was the rarest in the Cutlass Supreme lineup, with just 4,867 units. The 2-door hardtop production included 11,354 cars, while the 4-door sibling found 10,762 customers.

One of these few convertibles that rolled off the assembly lines for the 1970 model year made its way to eBay, fighting for a second chance. It doesn't look enticing, but after further inspection, this Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme convertible served as the living proof you shouldn't judge a book by its cover.

The photos paint a completely different story than what you'll find on this Cutlass Supreme. The images suggest the car has been parked under the clear sky for many years, so it's now rotting away in someone's yard. You'd normally expect lots of issues, including rusty metal, missing parts, and possibly a seized engine.

However, this convertible is more surprising than you're tempted to believe at first glance. It's also the reason I used the quotes in the title, as the Cutlass Supreme comes with fresh paint, a new vinyl top, leather upholstery in good condition, and highly desirable parts like the AM/FM stereo and the stock wheels.

The owner says the car is an all-original and matching-numbers Cutlass Supreme, but I can't back this claim without a visual inspection. Potential buyers should inspect the vehicle in person, especially because a car sitting for so long could exhibit rust issues on the floors and in the trunk.

The owner says the car has a 350 Rocket V8 and a 3-speed automatic transmission. No further specifics were shared, but it's safe to assume it's in working condition, considering the overall shape of everything else. A good mechanic and an in-person experience should help set things straight and provide a more accurate picture of this allegedly rare gem.

The price makes sense if this Cutlass Supreme convertible indeed retains its original factor without modifications that would alter the factory setup. eBay seller spi_styles says anyone paying $26,000 for the car can take it home, but they also enabled the Make Offer button to discuss other potential deals. If you want to see this Olds in person, you can find it in Saint Louis, Missouri. I would normally advise potential buyers to bring their trailer to the location, but I believe the car is already road-worthy, considering its overall shape. You should discuss these details with the owner, though.
