Tiny homes can get really fancy and use the little floor space that's available in the most creative ways. Still, what's perhaps even more impressive is how well they can mimic the comfort of a traditional family home while staying within the legally required tiny house framework. This two-bedroom model designed in Missouri can rival any conventional house in terms of coziness, functionality, and style.
Don't be fooled by its name – the Hideway isn't some rugged, off-grid dwelling with minimal comfort and maximum resilience. In this case, it's the name of a perfectly lovely family home on wheels, with beautiful bedrooms, a spacious kitchen, a perfect lounge, and lots of details that take it from a simple mobile dwelling to a home in the true sense of the word.

The Hideaway by Mini Mansions Tiny Home Builders sports one of the most popular configurations in recent years – a dual-loft layout with a regular loft and a so-called reversed loft, which means that the sleeping room actually goes underneath the area above, which then becomes what is known as an elevated lounge. One of the best things about this layout is the added privacy – you get two relatively large bedrooms that are almost entirely closed off and a lounge that's separate from the main floor layout.

Most of the time, tiny homes feature an open-plan ground floor with no clear demarcation between the kitchen and the living room area and loft bedrooms that are fully open and even harder to reach (via ladders). The Hideaway eliminates these issues by combining a clever reversed loft with a split staircase, resulting in better privacy and comfortable access for everyone.

Size has a lot to do with it. The Hideaway had a generous length of 30 feet (9.1 meters) to play with, paired with sufficient width (8 feet/2.4 meters) and the standard 13.5-foot (4.1 meters) height. This was enough space to include a beautiful master bedroom in the form of a walk-around loft with a comfy double bed and additional space for furniture and storage.

Two large windows on each side bring in natural light and fresh air. The solid protection wall and elegant handrail are more important than one might think; they primarily act as safety elements, but they also transform this from a basic loft into an almost traditional bedroom. Privacy, quietude, and comfort all the way create the ultra-cozy ambiance that most people want.

That beautifully crafted handrail doubles as a decorative element, adding visual contrast and depth. The staircase itself is also lovely, featuring multiple hidden drawers of various sizes for ample storage. One thing that stands out is that all the cabinets inside the Hideaway, from the kitchen cupboards and staircase drawers to the bathroom vanity, have the exact same design, which creates a harmonious, classic symmetry throughout. Another stylish touch is the combination of white, natural wood, and black-painted metal accents, which also contribute to a classic look.

Unexpected, quirky additions amplify this house's homely ambiance. One of the staircase drawers was turned into an adorable nook for the family pet; nearby, an ingenious breakfast setup flaunts a tiny floating shelf acting as a miniature snack bar and a matching bar stool.

It's a smart way to use that extra space and add functionality almost out of nothing. The ground-floor bedroom is a great option for kids because it doesn't involve stairs or ladders, it's private, and it's also easy to keep an eye on while the parents are cooking dinner, for instance.

Kids will surely love this "secretive” room that's luminous and airy enough thanks to several windows, and which indeed feels like a hideaway, separate from the rest of the house. As a perk, it's also a spacious storage area, and storage is always needed in a family home. Even the bathroom provides generous storage in addition to top-notch appliances and a beautiful design.

With no lounge area downstairs, the Hideaway can dedicate generous floor space to its kitchen, and it shows. All models designed by Mini Mansions Tiny Home Builders are proud to flaunt premium butcher block countertops and Amish-built wood shaker cabinets, among other high-quality amenities and materials.

The Hideaway's kitchen comes with a full-size fridge/freezer neatly placed in a dedicated nook at the end of the kitchen, a full-size four-burner gas range with an oven, a microwave, and a huge stainless steel sink.

Even on the outside, the Hideaway looks more like a traditional home than a house on wheels, thanks to the ingenious blend of materials and textures. As soon as you step inside, it's almost impossible not to feel at home right away: the lovely breakfast setup speaks of joyous family moments in the morning, the pet bed makes you smile, and all the rooms are just waiting to be explored.

The ultra-cozy lounge is just a few steps away, flaunting huge windows that bring the outdoors in. The handrail adds privacy without blocking the views, and there's plenty of room for everyone – what more could you ask for? The Hideaway isn't the most affordable tiny house out there, but for $104,900, you get more than a simple house on wheels.
