Currently, the Japanese automaker has a lot of electrified models on sale in the United States. However, only one of them is entirely electric, the hard-to-pronounce-or-spell and quirky-styled bZ4X.
Well known as a hybrid vehicle specialist, Toyota still plays its trump car really well – with the hybrid versions of the Corolla, Corolla Cross, Prius, RAV4, Camry, Venza, Sienna, Highlander and Grand Highlander, Sequoia, and Tundra i-Force Max. And there are several Prime plug-in hybrids, too. But only the bZ4X, starting from an MSRP of $42k, comes solely with electric power and nothing else on the ICE-powered side.

Set to go on sale soon, the rumor mill believes the bZ5X will be a larger crossover SUV that will be introduced by Toyota for the 2024 or 2025 model year with a three-row format. It's part of the company's 'Beyond Zero' strategy and might arrive on the market with a price tag of around $50k.

Few things are known about the model that's immediately larger than the bZ4X, so at the time, we couldn't really share reliable information about the EV motor's power and performance figures, range, charging speed, or battery life, as well as all the other miscellaneous things like ride comfort of cargo capacity. However, one thing is for sure – if the bZ4X inspires it, it's going to be quite quirky indeed.

So, maybe folks might want something else from Toyota's next EV endeavor. No worries, as always, there are plenty of alternatives. According to the rumor mill and the imaginative realm of digital car content creators, one of the most enticing possibilities is seeing the Toyota Land Cruiser Se concept enter into series production. As a reminder, this prototype was one of several EVs presented at the Japan Mobility Show last month, the event formerly known as the Tokyo Motor Show for almost seven decades.

Now, the good folks over at Kolesa, along with their resident pixel master Nikita Chuicko, aka kelsonik on social media, have quickly imagined the production version of the potential Land Cruiser EV. Such an idea is not really outrageous considering the many reports that claim Toyota is trying to expand the Land Cruiser series into a veritable family of models – they already have the vintage-flavored Land Cruiser 70, the 2024 Land Cruiser (Prado or 250 in specific markets), plus the full-size J300 Land Cruiser.

Additionally, the rumor mill has caught wind of a recent Land Cruiser FJ trademark that bodes well for their discussion revolving around a body-on-frame compact-sized LC that would represent an unstoppable force in off-road compared to rugged yet unibody models like the Ford Bronco Sport. Back to the production-series Land Cruiser EV based on the Se concept, it doesn't take much to prepare it for the real world – even if the prototype didn't have much in common with the J250 or J300 Land Cruisers. Cool, right?
