Unlike other US automakers that have pledged allegiance to crossovers, Cadillac still has some low-slung models in its family. Unfortunately, none of them can trace their roots back to the Eldorado.
Since the demise of the twelfth generation over two decades ago, there have been some unofficial talks about a possible revival of the Cadillac Eldorado. However, they haven't materialized, and the GM-owned premium car marque doesn't seem interested in such a model.

Regardless of whether it is the beautifully-shaped original that came out in 1953 or some of its successors that became more angular as time passed, most of us have a favorite Cadillac Eldorado. And if that one happens to be part of the ninth-gen, then you are in luck, as we just found one that you should check out.

First things first, we will remind you that the open-top version of the Cadillac Eldorado was supposed to bite the dust after the 1976 model year. As a result, it was celebrated with the Bicentennial Edition, whose production was capped at 200 copies. However, GM quickly changed its mind and brought back the Eldorado Convertible for the 1984 model year, which landed a lawsuit in their backyard from those who bought the '76 one, as they felt deceived.

Presented here is a 1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible, which features a lot of amenities, including those specific to this model year, such as the small script on the hood, new grille, and different taillight lenses. The power door locks, AM/FM stereo, and a six-way power adjustable seat were standard, and this car also features air conditioning, power windows, power brakes, power steering, and a power rag top.

It is finished in black with a tan leather interior and packs a big engine under the hood. It is a 500 V8 with an 8.2-liter displacement paired with an automatic transmission. As part of a recent service, this Eldorado received new brakes, tires, and a fresh rag top. The odometer read 88,631 miles (142,637 km) at the time of cataloging, and the vehicle is an interesting proposal that seems to be ready to hit the road again in the possession of its new owner.

Garage Kept Motors is the vendor, and it is asking $20,900 for this old-timer. Considering that this kind of money could land you a new Nissan Versa, which is America's cheapest new car, it does not seem on the OTT side to us. Sure, it's not the rare Bicentennial Edition, but it is still a great-looking classic that deserves a caring home attached to a cozy garage. Does yours fit the bill, and would you pay the asking price for this 1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible? Drop a few lines about it below to let us know.
