It is very easy to get confused by the high-end used car market, as while the value of some rides keeps increasing, others become more affordable. However, affordable is a word that doesn't belong in this story, as neither of the two rides presented here are bargains.
As the title mentions, it is a showdown between two ultra-hot classic rides. One is the iconic 1968 Ford Mustang Eleanor and the other is a Lamborghini Diablo SV. Both cost about the same, and they're looking for new homes, trying to lure in deep-pocketed car fanatics. Thus, if you were thinking about spending around $400k, look no further than these two. However, you will have to decide which one deserves your hard-earned cash.

Every gearhead and their neighbor knows what the 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback Eleanor is, right? This resto modded classic muscle car is said to have been officially licensed through the Gone in 60 Seconds LLC, and as you can assume, it packs all the right gear. Under the hood lies a gen-1 Coyote 5.0L V8 motor making 420 hp (426 ps/313 kW), mated to a Tremec five-speed transmission. It features disc brakes on all four corners, rack & pinion steering, side-mounted exhaust tips, a set of tubular control arms, and so on.

Black racing stripes decorate the gray metallic paint finish, and the car has a gorgeous black interior with numerous silver accents. The vendor mentions the air conditioning system, a Shelby steering wheel, a custom center console, nitrous switches on the dashboard, modern gauges that have replaced the original ones, a custom-painted roll cage to keep the occupants safe if it crashes, and many other goodies.

It is a clean-titled car with no warranty, and the odometer displays a double-digit mileage. Therefore, you are looking at a brand-new classic ride with an ambient lighting touch and a modern stereo system that looks all-shiny everywhere. Heck, even the underbody is so clean that you could make a sandwich on the axle. Let's hope whoever buys it drives it constantly, though we reckon they'll probably park it in the garage, looking to make a hefty profit by selling it in a few years.

Unlike the awesome Eleanor Mustang, the Lamborghini Diablo, which costs about as much and is also looking for a new home, has been driven. The odometer reads 16,625 miles (26,755 km). Nonetheless, it has been properly maintained over the years, so it is in great overall condition, with the vendor mentioning that it also has a clean title. As you can imagine, there is no warranty here, as the Italian supercar saw the light of day 26 years ago, in 1998, which is when Audi acquired Lamborghini.

The 5.7-liter V12 engine supplies the firepower. The motor was good for 510 horsepower (517 ps/380 kW) back in the day, and we reckon most of those horses should still be alive and kicking under the hood. A six-speed manual transmission delivers the output to the rear wheels because, unlike some versions of the Diablo, the SV was offered with pure rear-wheel drive. This Italian bull features a timeless black finish on the outside and a matching interior and rides on five-spoke alloys in black and silver.

Are you ready to talk about the finances? Well, we already told you that each one costs about $400,000, but we haven't mentioned their asking prices. For the 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback Eleanor mentioned above, interested parties will have to cough out $424,900. Does the 1998 Lamborghini Diablo SV sound like a more exciting deal? Well, then you will have to fork out exactly $400,000 for it. Both machines are in stock and ready to be shipped to their future owners.

Mind you, they were not the only ~$400k offerings at the time of writing, as a 2024 Porsche 911 GT3 RS was also listed for grabs, albeit it was more expensive at $489,900. Another Porsche, a 2023 911 Dakar this time, was looking for a new home for $389,000, and we found another Lamborghini, a 2023 Urus Performante, that was listed for $359,900.

If you want to make an offer on that gorgeous 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback Eleanor, then you must click on this link, which will take you to the eBay listing. In fact, all rides mentioned above were advertised on this website at the time of writing, including that squeaky-clean 1998 Lamborghini Diablo SV, to which we dedicated a few paragraphs. The Italian supercar is advertised here, so you know what to do, right?

Now, if you had a $400k or so budget and the need to spruce up your life with a timeless icon, which of these two would get your vote? It's a great dilemma to have, and I honestly couldn't choose between the two. Thus, it'd be a coin-flipping solution for this writer.
