Donald Trump's Lamborghini Diablo VT roadster made some waves and eventually sold for a fortune during an auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. The former US president ordered it new, in a color that Lamborghini did not even offer back in 1997, and drove it until he decided to sell it.
It was 1997 when Donald Trump ordered a Lamborghini Diablo VT roadster and was allowed to customize it according to his preferences due to his special relationship with the brand, which means he had several Lambos previously ordered.

For his Lambo, Trump chose a paintwork that was not even available in 1997: Blu Le Mans. It is the only Lamborghini Diablo VT roadster that rolled off the production line in Sant'Agata Bolognese with this shade over a contrasting black leather interior. The former US president also asked for a special plaque to be installed on the door. It read "Donald Trump 1997 Diablo."

The Italian supercar ticked all the boxes he wanted. It came with a radical design, it was powerful and exclusive. Only 132 such units were produced for the American market between 1997 and 1999.

Trump absolutely loved his Lamborghini Diablo VT and drove it until the summer of 2002, when he decided to sell it. The Diablo comes with a mid-mounted naturally-aspirated 5.7-liter 48-valve V12 engine, which delivers 485 horsepower (492 metric horsepower) and 428 pound-feet (580 Newton meters) of torque to all four corners via a five-speed manual transmission and an all-wheel drive system.

The Viscous Traction (VT) system steers the torque to the front axle when necessary. With all these in its CV, the supercar can run from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 kph) in 4.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 202 mph (325 kph).

With all these figures, the Diablo sold for $1.1 million to an undisclosed buyer, which is far above the price a normal Diablo would sell for. A social media post shows the crowd cheered during the Barrret-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, when the bidding topped seven figures. The price is a world record for a Diablo being auctioned off and it includes the manufacturer's literature, two tool bags installed in the trunk, and a car cover.

The odometer reads 15,431 miles (24,834 kilometers), but the CarfFax reports a mileage inconsistency on 08/09/2003 that has not been clarified yet. However, its current owner did not drive it much. Back in 2016, when it was listed on eBay, it came with 14,655 miles (23,585 kilometers).

The one who purchased now is the fourth owner. Maybe number 4 is a charm, and this former garage queen gets to stretch her legs along some winding roads.
