The Lamborghini Diablo came out during a time when supercars were still bedroom poster material for up-and-coming car lovers. During its 11-year production run, the Raging Bull of Sant’Agata Bolognese built only 2,884 examples of the supercar.
This is a 1998 model, which means that it was manufactured in the same year Automobili Lamborghini was bought by Volkswagen. But what we have here isn’t just a Lamborghini Diablo SV. It is a low-mileage, V12-powered blast from the past which happens to be adorned by a very amazeballs paint job.
Offered for sale by Super Veloce Racing, the sticker in the window reads £265,000 ($347,615) and, all things considered, it’s well worth it. The Lamborghini Aventador, for comparison, starts from $399,500. As per SVR, an outfit established and operated by ex-Lamborghini service manager Alan Robb and ex-Lamborghini works driver and master technician Lee Cunningham, this Diablo SV shows just 6,941 miles (11,170 km) on the odo.
Even though the car was officially painted yellow, the Sant’Agata factory applied a fine coat of light blue metallic, giving this one-off Diablo SV a pearlescent finish which was christened Ice Blue. Super Veloce Racing also highlights that “this was done especially for this example, which started its career on the Lamborghini stand at the 1999 British Motor Show.”
An even more interesting detail regarding the Italian exotic you can admire in the adjacent photographs and videos is that the first owner didn’t just buy it directly from the Lamborghini stand at the British Motor Show. He also “purchased the ownership rights to the color, thus securing this example’s place in history as truly unique.” Oh yes, I too am at a loss for words.
The list of goodies is lengthy, which is why we’ll focus on the bits and bobs that caught our attention. The SE side skirts, the carbon fiber gear lever, the performance-oriented stainless steel exhaust system, the Alcantara interior, everything about this car oozes Lamborghini. Oh, and another thing. The lucky bastard who will buy this senior citizen of the supercar genre will also be given the original Lamborghini umbrella that came with the Diablo SV.
