At the end of 2023, Ford’s F-Series remained – with almost 751k units delivered – the best-selling nameplate in America. It was followed by the Chevy Silverado and Ram Trucks series, of course.
Counting on both the F-150 and Super Duty HD models, Ford managed to keep the crown for another year. However, things are getting harder – Ram just updated the 1500 series for the 2025 model year including with the all-new Ramcharger and 1500 REV while GM claims it holds the crown for full-size pickup trucks because it adds the seventh-placed GMC Sierra to the tally in a bid to beat the F-Series once and for all.

Naturally, the Blue Oval company didn’t stand idle – its 2024 F-150 models are all updated and sport different visage for their various trim tiers in addition to a slew of other updates. Additionally, the Super Duty has reached its fifth generation with the new base 6.8-liter gasoline V8, the high-output 500-hp 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel mill, and the mighty 7.3-liter Godzilla V8 under the hood. But is that enough?

The rivals are not sitting idle and especially Ram promises a few impressive feats for the 1500 series – the high-output 540-hp Hurricane inline-six turbo mill, the Ramcharger plug-in EV with range extender, as well as the 1500 REV all-electric. Those ideas could be mirrored on the Ram HD models, too, and paint the impressive picture of a much more sustainable lineup than Ford’s.

Chevy and GMC, on the other hand, have upgraded the Silverado HD and Sierra HD with the off-road-focused ZR2 and ZR2 Bison, plus the AT4X and AT4X AEV Edition, respectively. Interestingly, if we are to believe the imaginative realm of digital car content creators, there is a simple way of making the Ford Super Duty a lot more sustainable – with their own F-250 and F-350 Lightning versions.

For example, the good folks over at the AutoYa info channel on YouTube have a satellite venue dubbed AutoYa Interior, and that's where all the (CGI) Ford action occurs – both inside and outside. Mirroring the F-150 Lightning, maybe the Blue Oval company will announce the Super Duty Lightning at the same time or before the light duty EV’s refresh. As such, the channel’s pixel master has envisioned the heavy-duty model with the same general styling but also a few upgrades inside, where there’s a hypothetical new central screen with an even larger diagonal and more functions and features.

As always, the host discusses the potential styling and features – like a powertrain upgrade over the 580-hp extended battery Lightning option with even more oomph and cells for greater range – while the resident CGI expert takes care of the unofficial styling complete with a fresh color reel both inside and outside. So, would you take a Super Duty Lightning home, if real?
