Audi's upcoming naming scheme might confuse you, yet it's not tricky at all. The four-ring brand will give its electric vehicles even numbers and the ICE-powered ones will feature odd numbers.
That said, the successor to the current A6 will be christened the A7, regardless of whether it is the executive sedan we are talking about or the station wagon (Avant). We recently caught another glimpse of the latter, with our spy photographers immortalizing a prototype.

Caught testing in the snow in Europe's frozen north, this is the next-generation Audi A7 Avant, which will replace the current A6 Avant. The model will continue to rival the likes of the Mercedes E-Class Estate and BMW 5 Series Touring, as well as other premium executive wagons, and will look like an evolution of its predecessor.

It is not difficult to make up some of the styling cues, even with the trippy camouflage covering the latest scooped tester. The model still has the signature grille up front, albeit reinterpreted, a pair of fresh LED headlights, a more intricate lighting signature at the other end with ultra-slim units, a rather clean bumper, and a roofline that it is a bit arched towards the rear.

Telling it apart from the A6 Avant e-tron, aka the electric one, will be very easy, as the latter will get a closed-off grille, split headlamps, and a different rear lighting signature, among others. On top of that, the battery-electric variant's roofline is not as arched as it is on the ICE-powered model, so it should offer a larger trunk capacity and superior headroom for those sitting on the rear bench.

We reckon it will be a few months until the Ingolstadt company hosts the official unveiling of the upcoming A7 Sedan and A7 Avant. Until then, numerous rendering artists will keep trying to decipher its styling secrets, just like Kelsonik on Instagram recently did with a few digital illustrations that stay true to the real thing for the most part.

The virtual model imagined here has a somewhat similar grille, larger side vents in the new front bumper, different headlamp graphics, new side mirrors, and a more intricate rear bumper. The full-width taillights seem to be about the same as the real ones, just like the door handles and sloping roofline, as well as a few other components.

Overall, we wouldn't mind if the upcoming Audi A7 Avant ends up looking like this, as we think these digital illustrations do justice to the car. Still, we will have to wait a few more months to see if they are spot on, as the business wagon (and sedan) is expected to launch in the United States for the 2025 model year.
