Just because it's the Winter Holidays doesn't mean automakers have stopped putting upcoming models to the test in all kinds of environments. Case in point, meet another prototype of the A6 Avant e-tron, which was recently spotted doing its thing somewhere in its homeland of Germany.
As the revealing date is fast approaching, the four-ring brand's team responsible for its development has ditched the trippy camouflage. At first glance, it might appear that this tester didn't feature any camo whatsoever, but it is clear that there are some black strips at both ends. Still, the wraps were kept to a minimum so we could spot more design traits that were previously hidden beneath the fake skin.

The upward sweeping beltline and roofline slightly arched towards the rear give it a sporty profile. The car also features split headlamps with the turn indicators being integrated into the upper units. This prototype also had side cameras instead of mirrors, which will be an optional extra.

Some aerodynamic elements surround the rear windscreen, and further down, we can see the new LED taillights, license plate holder in the middle of the tailgate, below the OEM logo, and a sporty bumper with an aggressive diffuser at the lower end. The prototype has a black finish and rides on traditional wheels for now.

It's been said that the cabin of the A6 e-tron might be similar to that of the Q6 e-tron, which brings no fewer than three displays, including one for the front passenger. However, we have yet to determine if that's indeed the case, as our spy photographers couldn't get close enough to the prototype to immortalize its interior. Even if they did, chances are that most of it would still be under wraps.

The Volkswagen Group's PPE platform is understood to be the foundation stone of this model. If you heard this name before, then it was likely on a story about the upcoming Porsche Macan EV, as it will also build on it. The architecture supports the 800V tech for faster charging times, and it is compatible with multiple electric powertrain setups.

Lesser models are expected to have single motors, and the upper specs should bring dual ones. For what it's worth, Audi Sport is also working on a go-fast version of the car, which will bear the RS logos. This recipe will likely be applied to both body styles of the A6 e-tron, the Sedan and Avant, and it is understood to bring some 800 horsepower to the output party.

With most of the camouflage being gone, the unveiling date is likely right around the corner, and we suspect it might premiere in the first quarter of 2024, crossing the pond to become a 2025 model.
