2024 marks the second model year of the redesigned Sequoia, which Toyota refers to as XK80. The full-size SUV with Tundra underpinnings isn't all that different from the previous model year, though.
For example, TRD Pro trim levels are now available with an exterior paint color by the name of Terra. Furthermore, the Japanese automaker sweetened the deal with the Limited-exclusive Nightshade Package and Platinum 4x4-exclusive TRD Off-Road Package.

Limited is the second trim level in terms of pricing, for it starts at $67,275 compared to $60,875 for the SR5. Available with both rear- and four-wheel drive, the Nightshade Package adds $500 to the tally. What do you get for this money? In addition to 20-inch wheels in black, exterior chrome trim pieces are replaced with black trim pieces (think over fenders, badges, and side mirror caps) for a slightly more sinister appearance.

Listed with a starting price of $73,465 (sans destination freight charge), the Platinum is available with 4WD for $3,000 extra. Shared with the SR5 4x4 and Limited 4x4, the TRD Off-Road Package comes in a number of variants, with prices kicking off at $2,310 as per the build & price tool. The most expensive costs $3,585.

Core features include 20-inch wheels mounted with all-terrain rubber boots, off-road suspension with beefier shock absorbers from Bilstein, a front skid plate, red drive shafts for the front axle, an electronically controlled locking differential out back, TRD Off-Road exterior badges, a red engine start button that reads TRD, a leather shift knob that also reads TRD, aluminum sport pedals, and four off-road assistants.

These are Downhill Assist Control, Crawl Control, Multi-Terrain Monitor, and Multi-Terrain Select. What do they do? As implied, Downhill Assist Control keeps it nice and steady on downhill slopes at speeds under 18 miles per hour (30 kilometers per hour) in 4H. Crawl Control enables driving at a fixed low speed on rough terrain without pressing the throttle or brake pedal.

The Multi-Terrain Monitor offers a 360-degree look around the vehicle thanks to a multitude of cameras at speeds lower than 10 miles per hour (16 kilometers per hour). As for Multi-Terrain Select, this system optimizes many parameters to improve drivability in a given scenario. 4L is available in Auto, Sand, Mud, and Rock driving modes, while 4H boasts Auto, Dirt, Sand, Mud, and Deep Snow.

Similar to last year, the 2024 Toyota Sequoia comes exclusively with twin-turbo V6 hybrid muscle. Shared with the Tundra i-FORCE MAX Hybrid, this powertrain belts out 437 ponies and 583 pound-feet (790 Nm) of torque, enabling a maximum towing capacity of 9,520 pounds (4,318 kilograms). It's not a frugal powertrain, though, because of the Sequoia's curb weight. The EPA estimates up to 22 miles to the gallon (around 11 liters per 100 kilometers) on the combined test cycle with rear-wheel drive.
