The Subaru WRX TR sports sedan gets mechanical and performance upgrades over the standard model for improved steering, braking, and handling. The car is set to hit showrooms worldwide in the first quarter of 2024.
The Subaru WRX TR is the new top of the line of the WRX lineup. It is equipped with stiffer springs and revised damping rates. It also receives a retuned steering rack compared to the standard WRX for a sharper steering response.

The model comes standard with new multi-spoke 19-inch wheels in satin grey with 245/35 Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires for extra grip. The braking system has been upgraded with Bream six-piston front calipers and two-piston rear calipers, all four painted in red. There are brake discs of 340 millimeters (13.39 inches) at the front and 326 millimeters (12.83 inches) at the rear.

There are new Recaro seats on board, wrapped in black and gray Ultrasuede. The driver’s seat sports an eight-way electric adjustment. The power moonroof has been delighted, as Subaru wanted to keep weight under control, shave off a few pounds, and bring along extra headroom for the drivers wearing helmets.

The Subaru WRX TR sports an aggressive design, which will be slightly different depending on the market. For instance, the American customers are not getting the massive fixed wing at the rear. But there will be a smaller integrated spoiler in the body color instead. There will be the signature hexagonal grille at the front, flanked by narrow headlights. A broad front scoop shows up on the hood, while at the opposite end, the taillights glow with a look reminiscent of volcanic magma.

The EyeSight Driver Technology is standard for the first time on a WRX with a manual transmission. The safety system includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Braking System, Lane Departure and Sway Warning, plus Lead Vehicle Start Alert. Also standard is the Subaru Starling Multimedia Plus system, displayed on an 11.6-inch touchscreen.

The model is powered by Subaru’s 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer engine, which is capable of delivering 271 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. A manual transmission is also available. Subaru fitted a Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system and Active Torque Vectoring as standard equipment.

The performance-focused 2024 Subaru WRX TR will make its global debut at the Subiefest Florida, taking place at the Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, October 7. That is where and when the largest annual gathering for the Subaru enthusiasts is set to happen.

The Japanese carmaker does not mention the price of the sports sedan, but that will most likely be available closer to the market launch date. The WRX starts at $38,515, with the 1,020 destination fee included. The model should hit dealerships in the first quarter of 2024.
