With the third generation Subaru Crosstrek, which premiered last year, the Japanese automaker is no longer using the XV moniker. As a result, the latest iteration that is now on sale in the United Kingdom replaces the XV.
For Europe's largest right-hand drive market, Subaru is offering the new 2024 Crosstrek in two trim levels. These are called the Limited and Touring and are priced from £34,290 (equal to $43,666 at the current exchange rates) and £36,290 ($46,213) on the road, respectively. The order book is open, and multiple showroom display cars are available across the auto marque's local dealer network.
Opting for the entry-level grade will get you 17-inch alloys, dynamic LED headlamps with washers, LED DRLs, front fog lamps, heated and power-folding side mirrors with dark gray-finished caps, a roof spoiler, rear privacy windows, and a shark fin antenna. The 11.6-inch touchscreen display with wireless smartphone integration is standard across the range, alongside the climate control, heated front seats, and various other gizmos.
Customers paying the premium for the Touring flavor of the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek will get additional equipment. The range-topping trim level rides on 18-inch wheels, has the same LED headlights as the entry-level, albeit with high-beam assist, has glossy black finished side mirror casings, sat-nav, synthetic leather upholstery, and a power sliding and tilt adjustable sunroof. The exterior color palette, comprising white, black, gray, and three shades of blue, is available on both models.
Subaru's EyeSight bundle of driver assistance gear is standard across the range. It features stuff such as lane keep assist, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, driver monitoring system, adaptive cruise control, intelligent speed limiter, reversing camera, tire-pressure monitoring system, and others. All versions of the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek are accompanied by a 3-year/60,000-mile (96,560 km) warranty, whichever comes first, and the automaker recommends service intervals to be carried every 12,000 miles (19,312 km) or annually.
Don't go anywhere yet, as we still haven't told you about the powertrain, which is very familiar. Regardless of the selected grade, all Crosstrek models feature the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer power unit. The mill develops 136 ps (134 hp/100 kW) at 5,600 rpm and puts 182 Nm (134 lb-ft) of torque at 4,000 rpm under the driver's right foot.
The output and thrust go to the updated Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system via a Lineatronic CVT (continuously variable transmission. The company quotes the 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) at 10.8 seconds and states the top speed is 123 mph (198 kph). The average fuel consumption of the high-rider is 36.8 UK mpg (30.6 US mpg/7.7 l/100 km) on the WLTP test cycle, and the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek emits 174 g/km of CO2 combined regardless of the trim level.
