Juggling with multiple hobbies can be stressful if you aren't rich. Ask me how I know. Project cars and bikes need parts monthly. Diecast manufacturers release new items every day. Musical instruments are costly.
So, stick to one hobby if you're running on a tight budget. You'll go farther with it than you would otherwise. If you decide to collect diecast cars, stick to one brand. Keeping up with all the new collectibles from Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Tomica, Ignition Model, Solido, Spark, Almost Real, and CMR is impossible. If you're lucky, you'll run out of space faster than you will out of money.

Once again, don't spread yourself thin trying to do everything at once. It's not healthy! With that in mind, here's the latest Matchbox mix of 24 cars. Mattel also owns this brand, so the strategy is similar to what you'll see with Hot Wheels items. Every fresh mix contains brand-new castings or older ones with new colors. But you'll see a lot of repeat models, too.

That's both good and bad, depending on each perspective. The 1968 Chevy C10 is a brand-new casting for 2024. Seeing it reminds me that I should intensify my efforts to find some Matchbox cars in my area. There are no flames, wild colors, or insane aero elements here to disturb the classic lines. It isn't a Premium MBX model, but it still looks decent. And the card art looks so good that it may persuade some of you to keep it even after setting the truck free.

The 1976 Jaguar XJ6C is also new for 2024 but has already been part of one of the earlier cases. Dark Blue is quite a fitting color for a car like this, and you cannot help but feel a slight nostalgia looking at it. The 1964 Lincoln Continental instantly reminded me of the Hot Wheels Replica Entertainment Premium model. That one is slightly better due to having Real Riders wheels, but it will also be more expensive than its Matchbox counterpart.

Craig Callum designed the Mercedes-Benz SL 63 AMG, and this is the second iteration of this casting. The 2023 version featured a blue finish but wasn't necessarily better than the new one. I like the Polaris Ranger. It demonstrates that it's readily available at Matchbox if you feel something is lacking in the Hot Wheels line-up.

The Porsche 918 Spyder casting has been around since 2022. After a shy debut, lime green is the second wild color for the car after last year's yellow edition. But I'm sure more people have eagerly awaited a new version of the Rivian R1T. Lindsey Lee designed this one, and you might remember some of her Hot Wheels castings, such as the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 or the Mercedes-Benz 500 E.

If there's one car in the new case that I would love to have, it's the 1992 Mazda Autozam AZ-1. The guys at Liberty Walk in Japan just turned one of these into a mini-replica of their white Ferrari F40. Red is the second color for this tiny kei car, and I hope some diecast manufacturer will make one with opening doors soon (Gullwing-style, anyone?) Before I go, I will provide one more reason why Mix 4 is exciting: look for the blue Porsche 911 Targa 4, and you'll understand. But any collector born in the '70 or '60 would much rather have the Morris Minor Saloon.
