The Jeep Avenger is the 2023 European Car of the Year, and since it was put into production earlier this year at Stellantis' Polland factory, it doesn't make sense to operate significant modifications for the second model year.
Stellantis, with 14 brands under its belt, is obviously prolific in producing various siblings. In Europe, for example, the subcompact segment has a massive roster of brothers and cousins: the Peugeot 208 and 2008, Opel Corsa and Mokka, as well as the DS 3 Crossback, Fiat 600e, and Jeep Avenger, all built on the group's CMP architecture and the subsequent STLA Small development.
As far as the Jeep Avenger is concerned, it is not only one of the newest additions to the roster but also the smallest Jeep offered on the Old Continent. A forbidden fruit in the United States, the little Avenger that could is built in Tychy at Stellantis Poland and the subcompact crossover SUV positioned below the Renegade has both ICE and EV power under the hood.
With many awards already under its name, the Jeep Avenger enters its second model year (2024MY) and still "embodies the essence of the Jeep brand, combining capability, style, functionality, and technology into a unique package." Some might say the 2024 Jeep Avenger doesn't change much from the previous model year, but the range is now expanded with a fresh e-Hybrid version, an "eco-conscious powertrain."
The lineup starts with the pure gasoline model, a 1.2-liter packing just 100 ponies and 205 Nm (151 lb-ft), sending the power through a six-speed manual transmission. The 400-volt EV model boasts the latest powertrain version from Stellantis and features 154 hp plus a 54-kWh battery pack – enough for a city WLTP range of no less than 600 km (373 miles).
A new addition to the range, the e-Hybrid version features the 1.2-liter gas mill hooked to a 48-volt lithium-ion battery and an automatic 6-speed dual-clutch electric gearbox – it boasts a "15% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to conventional automatic transmission engines." Additionally, the 2024 Jeep Avenger features other novelties like the Open-Air Sky Roof, a Powered Driver Seat with a massage function, and new leather material options.
Interestingly, Jeep promises that the newly streamlined trim lineup and economies of scale allow for a "list price reduction of up to €2k versus MY23 on the same trim level." The new range now features the Longitude grade as the base trim, followed by Altitude and Summit – which obviously features most perks, such as 18-inch alloy wheels, LED lights all around, plus a hands-free power liftgate. Of note, the Avenger EV and e-Hybrid also bring L2 Autonomous Driving technology, and the ICE-only 1.2-liter is solely available on the new Longitude and Altitude trims.
