Hyundai dealers across Canada are now finally allowed to accept orders for the posh Santa Fe NHL Edition - better hurry, though, as just 500 units are available from CAD 56,998 - which is the equivalent of $41,295.
Hyundai is on a roll in North America - they just released the updated 2025 Tucson compact crossover SUV and refreshed 2025 Santa Cruz unibody compact pickup truck at the recently-concluded 2024 New York International Auto Show (March 29 - April 7).
Before that, the South Korean automaker also welcomed into its lineup the fifth generation of the Santa Fe mid-size crossover SUV, which is available from $33,950 – a big departure from the 2023MY, which cost from $28,750 not long ago. However, the differences between them are night and day because the carmaker has inaugurated yet another all-new styling with the latest iteration.
Of course, not everything is rosy and filled with daffodils. Earlier this month, we discovered that the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe had its first recall, and 18k vehicles were already affected. That also means the new model is quite popular in the United States. But how about Canada?
Well, as it turns out, it's also successful enough to warrant the arrival of a Canada-Exclusive NHL Special Edition. Of course, ice hockey is a big thing in Canada, and Hyundai certainly thinks that at least 500 'hockey dads' will appreciate hauling their families to matches or taking the kids to practice in the limited series. Hyundai presented the first details about this version in January and is now back with the news that "dealers across Canada will begin accepting requests for the Santa Fe NHL Edition now."
Hyundai, by the way, is the Official Automotive Partner of the NHL and NHLPA in Canada and also has a special deal with rookie superstar Connor Bedard, who will provide each of the customers of the 500 examples with a signed jersey. Additionally, for every special edition, the company will also donate $500 to the Chicago Blackhawks Foundation - the official charitable arm of the club, which "works to create a healthier, smarter, more secure world for children and families in its local area."
Based on the flagship Ultimate Calligraphy trim, the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe NHL Edition is only available with the 1.6 turbo hybrid powertrain and has various upgrades throughout – Luxwood NHL team logo door sills, NHL-branded floor mats, floor liners and cargo tray from TuxMat, an Ontario-based company, 231-hp hybrid powertrain, 20-inch black alloy wheels, exclusive matte creamy white exterior paint and pecan brown Nappa leather interior.
However, aside from the NHL Edition's exclusive Creamy White Matte, the 2024 Santa Fe is also offered with seven other exterior colors in Canada - Phantom Black, Serenity White Pearl, Earthy Brass Matte, Hampton Gray, Terracotta Orange, Atlantis Blue, and Rockwood Green Pearl. Aside from the 231-hp and 271 lb-ft torque hybrid, the other option on the 2024 Santa Fe is the 2.5-liter turbo mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission with an output of 277 hp and 311 pound-feet of torque.
