Ice hockey is big in Canada, the country that gave us ice hockey in 1875. National Hockey League averaged 17.9 million viewers last year, the second highest average since 1995 and up seven percent from 2022. Given these numbers, Hyundai Canada developed an NHL-themed special edition of the all-new Santa Fe. It's limited to only 500 examples, with each unit getting matte-finish white paint.
Based on the well-equipped Ultimate Calligraphy, the NHL Edition further differentiates itself from the aforementioned grade by means of black-painted wheels featuring a multi-spoke design. Goodies further include WeatherTech floor mats and cargo liner, as well as Luxwood door sills.
The preferred NHL team's logo will be featured on the sills, with customers offered a choice between all 32 teams contesting the National Hockey League. To whom it may concern, the 2023-24 season will conclude in June with the Stanley Cup Finals. Last year, the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Florida Panthers four games to one.
To be revealed at the Montreal International Auto Show on January 19, the Santa Fe NHL Edition will make two further stops in February. Between February 1 and February 4, the crossover will be displayed at the Metro Toronto Convention Center South Building. Between February 16 and February 25, the special edition will be on display at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto.
A mid-size crossover slotted below the roomier Palisade, the Santa Fe can be had with a choice of 1.6- and 2.5-liter engines connected to six- and eight-speed transmissions. In the NHL Edition's case, only the 1.6-liter turbo hybrid is available.

Combined output is estimated at 232 horsepower and 271 pound-feet, which converts to 367 Nm. The frugal powertrain is joined by a six-speed automatic transmission. As opposed to the NHL Edition, the Santa Fe Ultimate Calligraphy features a 2.5-liter turbo and a dual-clutch tranny with eight forward gears. The 2.5 belts out 277 ponies and 311 pound-feet (422 Nm) at 1,700 revolutions per minute.
Turning our attention back to the special edition, Hyundai further sweetens the deal with a 12-speaker premium audio system from Bose, dual wireless phone charging, a USB-C terminal rated at 27 watts, and a third-row USB port. Another highlight is the Pecan brown interior theme. For 2024, interior colors also include Obsidian Black and Forest Green. As far as exterior paint colors are concerned, the palette comprises seven choices.
In addition to the NHL Edition-exclusive Creamy White Matte, said colors are Serenity White Pearl, Phantom Black, Earthy Brass Matte, Terracotta Orange, Hampton Gray, Rockwood Green Pearl, and Atlantis Blue. Clearly inspired by Land Rover, the exterior design of the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe is distinctive and modern, yet polarizing as well.
The South Korean automaker hasn't released pricing information for the NHL Edition, and the starting price of the 2024 model also remains a mystery for the time being. For reference, the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe carries an MSRP of $37,999 in Canada, meaning 28,170 freedom eagles at current exchange rates. Over in the US, it's $28,750.
