Ford has dropped multiple big names from its modern lineup in its never-ending chase of more high-riding vehicles with an obvious electrification twist. The Fiesta is on the list, as the assembly of the once-popular subcompact hatchback ended a couple of months ago.
The moniker first appeared in 1976 on the first generation, and over the years, it was refreshed multiple times. The seventh and final generation was made from 2017 to 2023 at the Cologne factory in Germany. It was built on an architecture that eventually gave birth to the Puma crossover, and the engines of choice comprised multiple gasoline units, a hybrid, and a diesel. And it was obviously the ST hot hatch that kept enthusiasts up at night with its performance and sporty looks inside and out.

In September 2021, the Blue Oval released the first images of the facelifted iteration. The 2022 Fiesta came with the obvious new front and rear ends, some technical updates in the cockpit, and a new safety feature. As sales of such models have significantly declined over the years, the three-door body style was dropped for good in spring 2022. And as we already told you, the vehicle was discontinued a little over a year later, with no intention of returning to the ICE-powered supermini segment to rival the VW Polo, Hyundai i20, Opel/Vauxhall Corsa, and others.

Mind you, there are some rumors claiming the Ford Fiesta might return with electric power. The Blue Oval might take advantage of its collaboration with Volkswagen to make it happen, and it sounds like a re-bodied or a rebadged ID.2 to us. Nonetheless, this isn't a fact, as anything could happen, though if you ask us, we'd say the Dearborn company might eventually want to cash back more on the Fiesta. After all, it is a very important nameplate for the brand, and it is a pity to see it missing out on the electric game.

Now, while some (including us) hope that the Fiesta will eventually return, the peeps at Kolesa have upped the game by releasing a few unofficial renderings of the model. The vehicle looks nothing like its predecessor, as it has bulkier overall proportions, slim LED headlights, a very aggressive front bumper design with an incorporated grille, a sporty rear bumper, and modern-day taillights that kind of send Mustang Mach-E vibes. Save for the flush-mounted door handles and a few reinterpreted lines, the profile looks about the same, and the window line carries over from the seventh generation.

Some might argue that this design is wishful thinking, and we agree, yet we wish Ford resurrected the Fiesta, and these digital illustrations give up a sense of hope. But do you want the model to return to North America, and if so, would you contribute to its sales by purchasing one? Your thought matters, so drop a line below and let us know.
