SEAT performance-oriented brand Cupra has just unveiled the updated Formentor and Leon. This is the first facelift of the two models, and besides the visual updates, they also sport additional novelties beneath the skin.
The 2024 Cupra Formentor and Leon have new front fascias in the looks department. New triangular matrix LED headlamps join the 'shark-nosed' design, and they also sport bolder and bigger lower mouths. Changes out back include new taillights and a backlit corporate logo. Cupra has also introduced the Enceladus Gray and Century Bronzo matte paint finishes.

Opening the door will reveal the updated interiors of the latest iteration Formentor and Leon. Here, Cupra mentions the high-quality feel, new materials with a sustainable approach, sports seats for the driver and front passenger wrapped in sustainable leather or 73% recycled microfiber, an improved HMI in the digital gauges, a retro-illuminated slider, a larger 12.9-inch infotainment, a 12-speaker audio, and a few other bits and bobs.

Power-wise, the latest Cupras pack four different assemblies for the UK market. A mild-hybrid (eTSI) is on deck, alongside a normal gasoline (TSI) and a diesel (TDI), with the plug-in hybrid (eHybrid) joining the family. The latter produces a combined 268 hp (272 ps/200 kW), offers 62+ miles (100+ km) of electric range, and supports DC fast charging up to 50 kW. The gasoline burner is limited to the Leon Sportstourer (station wagon) and Formentor, with its 328 hp (333 ps/245 kW), torque splitter technology, and Akebono brakes.

Cupra hasn't announced any pricing details yet, but we expect the 2024 Formentor and the 2024 Leon (hatch and estate) to be a bit more expensive than their predecessors. For instance, the outgoing Formentor starts at £32,580 (equal to $40,855) in the United Kingdom, with the 1.5L 148 hp (150 ps/110 kW) gasoline unit paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. The 7-speed DSG is a £1,610 ($2,020) option. The eHybrid, with its 201 hp (204 ps/150 kW), starts at £40,430 ($50,700).

For the outgoing Leon Hatch, Cupra is asking at least £31,565 (equaling $39,580) in the United Kingdom. The Leon Estate (Sportstourer) comes from £33,085 ($41,485). Both models feature a 148 hp (150 ps/110 kW) gasoline burner in the base flavors. Cupra's family also includes the Born and the Ateca, as well as an ABT Sportsline-tuned version of the compact crossover (Ateca), packing additional novelties. The Cupra Ateca boasts 365 hp (370 ps/272 kW) and takes 4.6 seconds to sprint to 62 mph (100 kph).

Order books in Europe for the 2024 Leon and the 2024 Formentor should open shortly, likely in the coming weeks, and the first copies should be delivered in a few months. Would you want Cupra to bring these two models to our market?
