This car was supposed to hit the streets with no adverting at all. Dodge builds 40 Challenger SRT Demon 170 Jailbreak examples for 40 elite customers, each with a unique paint.
You can only get one if your name is on the list of selected customers. But if you have not found out about the Jailbreak edition until this moment, it probably isn’t. To get your hands on one, you had to either be a celebrity (“select individuals with Dodge brand affiliation, as the company calls them) or owner of several Dodge SRT products over a multiyear period. The list reportedly ended up in the hands of Dodge president Tim Kuniskis, who gave a helping hand with the selection.
There will be 20 throwback colors and 20 special one-off tones, designated by the color and style department of the company. Future owners have already received samples. They are to select their top three favorite. If the first choice is already taken, their Dodge will be painted in the shade they chose as a second option. It is a first-come, first-served system, so all those willing to get a Challenger SRT Demon 170 Jailbreak should hurry.
The lucky ones can choose any color combo, mix trims and badges, and do anything that goes through their minds. 40 customers received the email that makes them special and gives them the right to do just that. All of them have confirmed orders for the 2023 Dodge SRT Demon 170.

MotorTrend reached out to Dodge and were told that select individuals were offered this exclusive paint option based on their new Dodge Charger and Challenger purchase history and Dodge brand affiliation. It was made available – Dodge says – on a limited basis to "those who have meant so much to the latest era of Dodge muscle." It is a clear indication that no mortals out there could get a Jailbreak version.
There is reportedly no special interior or trim color combo on board the special edition except for those that are standard on the Demon 170.
The special program does not involve any interference on the engine of the muscle car. So under that hood, still roars that almighty 6.2-liter V8 HEMI that breathes out 1,025 horsepower (1,039 PS) and 945 lb-ft (1,280 Nm) of torque for a run from 0 to 60 mph (97 kph) in 2.3 seconds. It is too fast for its own good. The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) issued the Demon with a violation letter for running a sub-nine second quarter mile time without a roll cage or parachute, effectively banning it from the drag strip.
Being special enough to buy it as a Jailbreak version costs extra an 30,000 on top of the $96,666 MSRP, going all the way to $131,961.
