The Japanese automaker recently celebrated half a million sales and ten years of existence for the Leaf electric vehicle, but until the Ariya e-4Force arrives to combine the two segments, Nissan is better off focusing on crossovers if it wants better sales.
That's exactly what it is doing, given the recent introduction of the refreshed 2021 Armada and Kicks. The Asian carmaker is now doubling down on the U.S. lineup offensive with a few – but thoughtful – upgrades bestowed upon the 2021 Murano.

The mid-size crossover SUV has been a pillar of Nissan's sport utility range since 2003, and two generations later, it continues to stand out in a crowd thanks to its quirky design, easy choice of trim levels, FWD or AWD variants, as well as the feisty V6.

The latter, providing 260 horsepower, continues to be offered with front wheel drive and all-wheel drive – always connected to the signature Xtronic transmission. Now, the company has revealed the pricing information for the 2021 model year, with the Murano kicking off at a MSRP of $32,510 (plus $1,095 for destination and handling). That makes it almost $1,000 more expensive ($980 to be exact) than the 2020 Murano S.

That’s for the base Murano S in FWD guise, and Nissan also offers the SV, SL, and Platinum trims, with the latter going as high as $44,060. Customers looking for the added all-weather flexibility of the AWD system need to shell out at least $34,060, while the top Murano Platinum AWD goes up to $45,610.

As far as the novelties for the 2021MY are concerned, the Japanese company has announced that its Safety Shield 360 technology suite is now standard across all trims and includes perks such as the “class-exclusive Rear Automatic Braking,” among other things.

Customers can also choose the 2021 Murano with three additional exterior shades (Magnetic Black Pearl, Boulder Gray Pearl, and Scarlet Ember Tintcoat), while the new Special Edition Package comes in lieu of the retired SV Premium Package.

The new pack includes 20-inch Dark Charcoal alloys, Prima-Tex seats, a Dual Panel Moonroof, heated front seats, and the Intelligent Around View Monitor. Nissan has not revealed the dealer availability schedule for the 2021 Murano just yet.
