As we wait for the 2020 Corvette to restart production in Bowling Green on May 25th, more information about the 2021 Camaro has surfaced from none other than General Motors. As the order guide says on page 26, the golden bowtie’s pony car will be treated to the Wild Cherry Design Package 1 and Wild Cherry Design Package 2.
Under the RPO code PDL, the first option includes Black Metallic hash mark stripes, the Camaro logo on the center caps, 20-inch polished and forged split-spoke wheels with black garnish, and premium carpeted floor mats with the Camaro logo. PDN is how the second option is called, and this time around, you’re treated to all of the above plus Black suede knee pads, the fuel filler door in Black with a visible carbon-fiber insert, Carbon Flash Metallic ground effects, and a center stripe for good measure.
As for availability, the Wild Cherry Design Package 1 can be had on the 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, LT1, 1SS, and 2SS while the Wild Cherry Design Package 2 is reserved for the 2LT, 3LT, and 2SS trim levels. Also new for the 2021 model year, the Camaro gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto across the range, from the 1LS to the ZL1.
The GM Fleet Order Guide further reveals that the MN6 manual transmission is joined by MX0 eight-speed automatic as an option with the LTG turbo four-cylinder engine. RPO code MX0 is also used for the ten-speeder, which can be had on the 3.6-liter V6, 6.2-liter V8, as well as the supercharged eight-cylinder mill of the ZL1. The big news in terms of swapping cogs is that the 10-speed option can be specified on the SS 1LE over the stick shift.
Last, but certainly not least, Wild Cherry Tintcoat will be added to the color palette. There are no pictures of the ‘Maro with this paint option at the time of reporting, but given that the order guise has been published only a few days ago, we may be in for a surprise by the end of the month. Pricing of the 2021 Camaro remains unconfirmed. For reference, the 2020 model year kicks off at $25,995 for the coupe and $32,495 for the soft-top convertible.
