With sedans biting the dust left and right in North America, Buick is already sporting an adventurous, crossover-laden model range. But consumer interest is only maintained through hard work, and the all-new, second-generation 2021 Envision might just be the right SUV for the job.
Revealed in May 2020, the 2021 Envision is finally hitting the U.S. market, bringing thoroughly upgraded exterior styling, a fresh interior, and enough connectivity or safety features to satisfy “today’s highly-discerning customers.”

The 2021 Envision is already on sale, with customers able to place an order with their favorite dealer if the starting MSRP of $32,995 is to their liking. By the way, the figure already includes the “destination, excluding tax, title, license, dealer fees and optional equipment,” which is rather uncommon as automakers typically promote prices without the additional charges.

Buyers should know that Buick is offering the 2021 Envision in a choice of three versions: Preferred, Essence, and Avenir. Each has its own specific design details, and the first two grades can be mated to the optional Sport Touring package. The latter puts an emphasis on sleeker looks, adding dark exterior cues, as well as equally dark 20-inch alloy wheels.

Meanwhile, the 2021 Envision is available for the first time in combination with the popular flagship Avenir trim. One can distinguish it from lesser grades thanks to its bespoke mesh grille, tinted chrome touches, and exclusive Pearl Nickel 20-inch alloys.

Inside, the Avenir brings additional standard features, such as heated and ventilated front seats (the rear outward seats are also heated), quilted leather seats with diamond-like perforations, navigation for Buick’s first-ever 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, or wireless smartphone charging (to go along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto).

Under the hood, the compact crossover SUV has just one engine. It’s a 2.0-liter turbo inline-four churning out 228 horsepower (170 kW) and 258 lb-ft of torque (350 Nm). The engine is mated to a standard nine-speed automatic transmission, and there’s a choice of two- or all-wheel drive. Buyers of the range-topping Avenir grade can also add the optional Continuous Damping Control suspension technology.
