Renault has always been good at messing up designs the first time and fixing them with the facelift. That's why we believe this Megane mid-life refresh will be a good one.
The Megane 4 has been around for about three years, and despite debuting the C-shaped headlights, we never thought it was a huge improvement over the previous generation, at least not from a cosmetic point of view. Based on these fresh spyshots, taken while the wagon version was undergoing Alpine tests, the front bumper will get a big refresh.
Despite the heavy camo, you can see the outline of some inverted-L-shaped daytime running accents. Around the back, the bumper suffers just a few minor tweaks while the taillights now appear to be tinted. Another small change: the emblems on the front fenders.
Quite a while back, Renault accidentally leaked photos of what we believe to be the facelift for the Megane GT, which is also available in wagon form. If you're into this car, make sure to check them out. What's interesting is that the GT model hasn't been available since late last year, most likely due to the new emissions regulations in Europe.
We believe that since Renault couldn't get its 1.6 TCe to pass, it's going to try again with the 1.8 TCe for the facelift, which will also give the GT a power bump from 205 to225 HP, with gains in torque as well.
At the moment, there are only a couple of engines available, all of which are new. You have the 1.5 dCi diesel and the 1.3 TCe that produces up to 160 HP. A 1.8-liter, 150 HP diesel should also follow. But our favorite secret Renault engine is the 2.0 dCi, one of the few of its kind to reach 200 horsepower. However, it's only available on bigger cars.
Interior changes should be limited. However, we've got our eye on some colorful Clio and Captur interior trim.
