The bigger and meaner they are, the better they sell, especially when we’re talking about America’s favorite type of car: the pickup truck. Already a force to be reckoned with in this segment, Ford’s F-Series Super Duty is getting even more appealing with the launch of the Tremor Off-Road Package.
Meant to push the “boundaries of Super Duty off-road capability,” the series of upgrades included in the package are available for most of the trim levels of the F-250 and F-350 Super Duty powered by the 7.3-liter gasoline V8 or 6.7-liter diesel.
So, what is Tremor?
The package is a set of modifications designed to increase the off-road capabilities of the truck, while at the same time conveying a special look to it.
The thing that stands out the most with Tremor is the wheel size. At 35 inches, the huge Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires mounted on a18-inch matte-finished black wheels are the largest in terms of diameter ever fitted on a heavy-duty pickup truck.
With them on, and with the help of other modifications, the Super Duty increases its water fording to 33 inches, while at the same time increasing the approach and departure angles (31.65 degrees and 24.51 degrees, respectively).
Tremor also comes with progressive-rate springs, tuned rear stabilizer bar, 1.7-inch piston twin-tube dampers,a locking rear differential with electronic shift-on-the-fly engagement and, the cherry on the cake, a new Dana limited-slip front differential.
A new driving mode is added to the car with the upgrade. Called rock-crawl mode, it modifies the settings to allow the Super Duty to operate in 4x4 low.
A complete novelty in the range is the addition of Trail Control, a feature that debuted on the F-150 Raptor and is, if you like, the cruise control for off-road driving.
As per Ford, the Tremor Off-Road Package will become available later this year. Pricing for it was not announced. More details can be found in the document attached below.
