If there was ever a question regarding which Corvette variant is the most desirable from a driving enthusiast’s standpoint, I think this listing just went a long way in providing us with a convincing answer. Yes, the brand-new Z06 C8 is a wonderful piece of kit and just mind-numbingly quick. But the C7-based ZR1 is a different type of beast.
The market appears to have swung for the current-gen Z06 Vette. Just last week we saw one exchanging hands for under MSRP, roughly $8,000 less than what it cost new. We’ve also seen quite a few examples that failed to sell altogether, as their ultra-high reserves didn’t get met, forcing the sellers to pull the listings in despair.

It shows just how far we’ve come in the past couple of months alone. Midway through March, a Carbon Flash 2023 Z06 Convertible 70th Anniversary Edition, with delivery miles, blew through its MSRP threshold by nearly $70,000. It ended up selling for $228,000, which is brand-new Lamborghini Huracan money.

The thing is, people are sick and tired of overpaying for non-exotic brand models, and Chevrolet just so happens to be on the receiving end of all that frustration. As if to drive this point home even more, this Racing Yellow-finished 2019 Corvette ZR1 Coupe 3ZR ZTK just sold for $215,000, despite having $5,000 miles on the clock.

When new, it cost $145,975, and by destroying its MSRP, it manages to shine a bright light on its “desirability factor”, so to speak. It shows that at least some people would rather overpay for a used C7-generation ZR1 than for a low-mileage C8 Z06.

Looking closely at this spec, we can’t help but to point out the ZTK Track Performance Package (adds front splitter end caps, the adjustable rear wing, stiffer springs and suspension tune), the transparent and removable roof panel, xenon headlights, Jake hood graphics, quad-exhaust outlets, and Carbon Flash 19” and 20” wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires and yellow-finished Brembo calipers.

Interior highlights include the heated and ventilated Competition Sport bucket seats (in Jet Black leather with yellow stitching), carbon fiber trim, a head-up display, a Bose sound system, keyless entry and start, automatic climate control, cruise control, plus a leather and carbon fiber-trimmed steering wheel.

As for what it can do on the road, it’s got a supercharged 6.2-liter LT5 V8 that’s factory-rated at 755 horsepower and 715 lb-ft of torque, with everything going to the rear wheels via a seven-speed manual transmission. On paper, this car is pretty much just as fast as the C8 Z06, both to 60 mph and over a quarter mile.

Now, when it comes to the race track, that massive, fixed rear wing helps the C7 ZR1 produce 950 lbs of downforce at high speed. A very impressive number by any metrics.
