The all-new Corvette ZR1 isn’t even out yet and we’ve got Z06 models selling for the price of a Lamborghini Huracan. What’s going on? Well, as far as I can tell, aliens haven’t invaded and we’re not all being brainwashed, at least to some extent. Yet, flagship-spec American performance cars, like the Corvette and the Challenger, are selling at record highs on the used market.
I think the C8 Corvette is an awesome piece of kit, especially the Z06. It comes with this factory-standard widebody kit, so it looks more aggressive than the regular Stingray right out the box. Of course, it’s not just better-looking when compared to the Stingray, but also quicker. We’ll get to that in a minute.

Until then, allow me to draw your attention to this stunning 2023 Z06 Convertible, which also happens to be a 70th Anniversary Edition example optioned with the Z07 Performance and Carbon Aero packages, as well as the 3LZ Equipment Group. This car cost $126,150 as a base price, before settling on $160,860, options included. Both those figures look like chump change now.

Visually, the first thing we see is that Carbon Flash Metallic exterior with the Satin Black racing stripes, further accented by the Carbon Flash-painted wing, dive planes and ground effects, all courtesy of the Carbon Aer Package. Other highlights include the 70th Anniversary badging, LED headlights, the power-retractable hardtop, and the staggered-width forged alloy wheels with the red accent stripe and 70th Anniversary Edition center caps, plus the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires.

Meanwhile, the interior features heated, ventilated, and power-adjustable GT2 bucket seats with the Ceramic White and Jet Black upholstery, Torch Red seatbelts, the Stealth Interior and Carbon Fiber (level 2) trim packages, a Bose sound system, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, a head-up display, and a carbon fiber and microsuede steering wheel.

Speaking of the interior, the digital odometer indicates just 4 miles, which basically means this car has never been driven.

As for the engine, it’s a 5.5-liter LT6 flat-plane V8, rated at 670 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. It sends everything to the rear wheels via a Tremec TR-9080 eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, working alongside an electronic limited-slip differential.

I mentioned before how this is even quicker than the Stingray. The latter will hit 60 mph in 2.9 seconds, while the Z06 requires just 2.6 seconds. This is hypercar quick.

Lastly, we need to talk about price, because this special edition Vette just sold for the staggering amount of $228,000, which is otherwise what you might spend on a brand-new Italian exotic. Also, options aside, this Vette just went for $100,000 over MSRP. Kind of blows your mind, doesn’t it? Makes me wonder what the all-new ZR1 is going to sell for once it hits the auction block – will we be seeing our first $300,000 Corvette?
