With the Pacifica, Chrysler proved that there’s life indeed after the Town & Country. Introduced for the 2017 model year, the Pacifica enters 2018 with more style than the ever. Available on the Touring Plus, Touring L, Touring L Plus, and Limited, the all-new S Appearance Package is the name of the game.
Priced at $595, the visual package doesn’t include the 20-inch wheels pictured in the gallery. Those command an additional $995, so you’re actually looking at a premium of $1,590 for the complete treatment. But even with the smaller alloy wheels, the S Appearance Package looks better than most other minivans.
Gloss black detailing for the grille, headlight, and window surrounds, black-painted valance molding, Black Noise-finished metallic touches for the Pacifica and S emblems, dark 18-inch wheels, there’s a lot to like. Opt for black paintwork, and you get yourself a murdered-out yet plush people carrier.
The interior is a treat to the senses in its own right, with dark-finished visors and headliner setting the ambiance. Light Diesel Gray contrast stitching can be seen literally everywhere you look, while Piano Black trim adds a touch of style to the steering wheel. For the instrument panel and door cards, Chrysler went with Anodized Ice Cave, also known as a dark shade of gunmetal gray.
On the tacky front, the S lettering on the black leather seats doesn’t work well with the rest of the cabin. Imagine your passenger asking you, “What does S stand for?” At which point, the driver needs to explain, “Aha, you see, this is no ordinary Pacifica. It’s the S Appearance Package.” Clearly gaudy, full stop.
Arriving at dealers late in the fall, the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica features a suite of upgrades brought to the standard features list. The highlights are SafetyTec (blind spot monitoring and rear cross path detection), as well as Uconnect touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Optionally, the automaker can equip the Pacifica minivan with 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity.
