We thought Ford was keeping quiet on the 2017 GT topic to let prospective buyers who didn't make the cut wipe off their tears with the rejection letters. Well, that's far from the case, with the upcoming supercar having shown up at a Cars and Coffee event over the weekend.
We're talking about a caffeine-octane adventure that took place in Plymouth, Michigan, with a fully functional 2017 Ford GT grabbing its fair share of attention at the high-octane gathering.

The supercar, which is almost ready to come out of the oven, did have some serious attention competition, though. And we're not even talking about contraptions such as a McLaren 675 Longtail or a Porsche 911 GT2 RS. Instead, we're referring to sweet pieces of engineering such as the Porsche 959 and the Lancia Stratos rally car.

Returning to the 2017 GT production details mentioned in the intro, we couldn't help notice how the Blue Oval seemed to favor celebrities, be they real-life ones such as singer Amy Macdonald or Internet-built charactes like Shmee150 when selecting the lucky 500 who are granted the opportunity of spending north of $400,000 on the beast. This might just mean that certain enthusiasts who own or have owned the previous GT ended up on the other side of the list, which saw 6,006 people receiving "nope" letters - here is a sample of such a notification.

As we've mentioned in the past, while names like Ferrari might be able to pull off such a stunt and get away with it, the Ford badge should've meant the opposite, encouraging the average Focus buyers, for instance, to dream that some day a supercar might adorn his or her driveway.

Regardless, those who kissed their screens after checking out their inboxes are now awaiting for the production details, which should allow us to get our hands on fresh details on this go-fast matter soon.
