Imagine the following scenario - you head out to a dyno competition in your C7 Corvette. Your car is a symbol of America. In the dyno room, you come across a guy in a brand spanking new 2016 Camaro SS. He hasn’t even started the break-in process yet, so there’s no chance he can beat you. Well, we wouldn’t bet on that...
With the 2016 Camaro SS recently being featured in tons of dyno videos, we can now safely say it’s not unusual to see it making slightly more power than the Corvette.

While the SS incarnation of the pony car borrows its LT1 heart from the C7 ‘Vette, the official ratings (power at the crank) place the first at 455 hp, while telling us the latter offers 460 hp.

As for the power at the rear wheels, the Camaro SS dyno run in the clip below, which comes from Hennessey Performance, shows the muscle car delivering 431 horses and 427 lb-ft of twist.

Back in 2013, when the C7 Stingray was fresh out of GM’s oven, Race Proven Motorsports strapped a stock unit to a dyno, with the sportscar producing 428 hp and 425.85 lb-ft at the rear wheels.

We have to mention these figures apply to the manual versions of the two cars.

Sure, the Camaro’s lead is small and only applies to the power, not the torque, while other videos will bring mixed results. But this wasn’t supposed to happen, was it?

We'll stop here for now and wait for these two Chevys to battle it out. Hopefully, on a prepped surface

The Corvette remains the lighter car, while the difference in terms of MSRP, which climbs to over ten grand, will definitely become visible once the two line up next to each other. Or will it?

Well, guess we’ll just have to wait for somebody to race this pair of Chevys. We have a hunch the Internet will be boiling with videos of such battles soon.
