2015MY Ford Mustang Coming in Spring of 2014, Refreshed Model in 2013

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, an all-new Ford Mustang will go on sale in early 2014 as a 2015 model year car indicate recent reports. This is The Blue Oval’s new plan to make the will coincide with the timing of the original Mustang’s on sale date back in 1964.

To help make an even better case for the 2014 Mustang, engineers are reportedly even considering adding independent rear suspension which should improve handling and ride comfort. It could also put the power down a little better with the help of a similar torque vectoring system as that in the 2012 Focus.

Until now, we expected no change to the range until the 2014 model year, Mustang Daily sources have revealed a facelift is coming to fill the gap until the what’s actually going to be called a 2015 model year arrives in the spring of 2014.

Rumors surrounding the project are aplenty right now, but we can be sure it’s going to be a big step forward for the car, as Ford’s design chief J Mays has promised it won’t be underpinned by the current S197 platform. “We can’t simply do an evolution of the 2005, 2010 cars,” he said.

In order to give the new model a fitting birthday party, it will be sold (and probably unveiled) globally, including places like the UK, Australia and Japan, where RHD will be provided.

Given that this is an anniversary unveiling, you can bet the styling will be closer than ever to the original. “The design studios in Europe and Australia are working on it, as well as those in America. It will be smaller and closer in spirit to the original 1964 Mustang,” an insider source told Auto Express last month.
