After the 2015 Ford Ranger facelift was unveiled in March, we expected the 2015 Mazda BT-50 facelift to follow suit. The compact-mid-size truck is produced in Thailand on the same assembly line that manufactures the Ford Ranger, so go figure what there’s to expect from the refreshen BT-50.
The first photograph of the 2015 Mazda BT-50 facelift was acquired by Terranismo and Thai forums concomitantly. As expected, the manufacturer’s Kodo - Soul of Motion design language is strong with this ute. The sole image is enough to observe styling cues borrowed from the 2016 Mazda6 sedan.

Wearing a gloss red finish that remotely resembles Soul Red Metallic, the 2015 Mazda BT-50 receives a smaller front grille with chrome detailing. Albeit the headlamps resemble those of the pre-facelifted BT-50, the updated model boasts clearer lens. As for the lower front bumper and fog lights, aesthetic changes are borderline minimal.

An interesting touch is the Mazda logo that now sits in the middle of a horizontal bar that traverses the front grille. If you’re curious about the nip and tuck job at the rear, there is no photograph available at the present moment. We do expect minor changes to the tailgate and taillights. Slated to arrive in Australia this fall, the 2015 Mazda BT-50 facelift will be available in single, freestyle and double-cab guises.

On the oily bits front, the revised Ford Ranger’s powertrain options will be adopted by the 2015 Mazda BT-50 as well. Look forward to 4x2 and 4x4 models animated by a 2.2-liter TDCI four-banger oil burner and a 3.2-liter TDCI five-cylinder turbo diesel.

6-speed transmissions will be offered, manual and automatic. The 2.2 is good for 110 kW and 375 Nm (150 metric HP and 276 lb-ft) while the 3.2 churns out 147 kW and 470 Nm (200 metric HP and 346 lb-ft).
