First showcased at the 2013 SEMA Show, the drop-top seventh generation Corvette adorned with the Atlantic Design pack will soon become a production reality. According to Chevrolet, this special editon will go on sale later this year along with the rest of the 2015 Corvette Stingray lineup.
From a mechanical point of view, there are no differences whatsoever between the standard and the Atlantic Design model. Therefore, under the hood you’ll find a 6.2-liter V8 powerplant, rated at 460 horsepower and no less than 460 lb-ft (623 Nm) of torque.
There’s a choice of two gearboxes: a standard seven-speed stick shift or the all-new paddle-shift automatic with eight speeds, which can offer up to 5 percent better fuel efficiency over the previous six-speed slush box.
Amusingly described as being inspired by the “luxury and performance of private jets seen at European vacation destinations”, the Atlantic Design pack features a number of aesthetic goodies which really go well with the character of the C7 Stingray. In order to make a design statement, the special edition convertible is fitted with a Z06-style front splitter accompanied by Shark Grey fender vents, tonneau cover inserts and Stinger graphics.
Each corner of the car sports five-spoke Chrome Torque wheels, 19 x 8.5-inch at the front and 20 x 10-inch in the rear, with Stingray script center caps and bespoke stem caps. Molded splash guards and a Carbon Flash Metallic rear license plate holder complete the exterior features list.
The cabin features less noticeable changes, chief among which are the premium carpet floor mats and the center armrest sporting an embroided Stingray logo. A set of custom luggage is also included.
No word on pricing just yet, but expect the Atlantic Design Package to bump the price tag of the C7 Corvette Z51 in either 2LT or 3LT trim by at least $2,000.
