With the all-new sixth-gen Camaro still half a year away from its public debut, Chevrolet is trying to capitalize with the last model year of the current generation. After the 2015 Camaro Commemorative Edition was unveiled yesterday, today we’re in the presence of the 2015 Chevrolet COPO Camaro.
Say what you want about those funny-looking rims, but those fat drag slicks front and rear are a tell-tale sign this variant of the breed means business in terms of quarter mile get-up-and-go. To boot, the fourth and final edition of the factory-spec Chevrolet COPO Camaro racer will be built in only 69 examples.

Slated to go on sale in the spring of 2015, the COPO is expected to hold a starting price just shy of $90,000. You may have the money for it, but Chevy will centralize all potential customers interested in buying the car, after which the golden bowtie manufacturer selects 69 lucky people at random to finalize the order procedure. Yep, pretty exclusive.

The last COPO of the fifth-generation Camaro may become a very hot collectible in 5 to 10 years’ time

It may not be street-legal due to the fact it doesn’t come with a VIN, but the new Chevrolet COPO Camaro is eligible to enter next year's NHRA Stock Eliminator and Super Stock classes. The race-ready muscle car is offered with a wide choice of engines. A 350 cubic inch LSX V8 (5.7-liter) aided by a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger is the standard piece of kit, but there are way more powerplants to choose from.

On the naturally aspirated side you’re offered with 350, 396 (6.5-liter) or 427 (7-liter) engines, joined by two variants of a 327 (5.4-liter) powerplant aided by 2.9 or 4.0-liter supercharger kits. Apart from an NHRA-specification roll cage and the bulging bonnet, the 2015 COPO Camaro boasts with things such as a specially-developed racing chassis, new suspension on all four corners of the car and a solid rear axle.
