Vauxhall’s brand new BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG killer, the 2014 VXR8 GTS, will be revealed next month at the Performance Car Show in Birmingham.
Based on HSV’s recently-unveiled Gen-F GTS, the VXR8 is powered by a supercharged LSA V8 engine, which is identical to the one fitted by GM in the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, that delivers no less than 576 bhp and 545 lb-ft of torque. The sedan is able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in only 4.2 seconds, while top speed is electronically-limited at 155 miles per hour.
More powerful than its main rivals, the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, the Vauxhall VXR8 GTS will arrive in British dealerships with a price tag starting from £54,999, making it cheaper than the aforementioned German sedans.
The high performance sedan will feature standard Side Blind Zone Alert, Automatic Park Assist, Front/Rear Park Assist, Reversing Camera, Head Up Display, Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning.
The 2014 Performance Car Show will run from January 9 through 12 as part of the Autosport International Show at Birmingham’s NEC. More details are available in the official press release below.
