The 2014 Chevrolet SS has just arrived in the United States, marking the return of GM high-performance rear-wheel drive sedan after a 17-year hiatus. Priced from $44,470, the SS is available as a single well equipped model, with only two extras on the options list: a power-operated sunroof ($900) and a full-size spare tire ($500).
We bet the limited amount of features on the options list raised a lot of eyebrows when the vehicle was revealed earlier this year, but it really shouldn’t matter, because the SS not just a fancied up vehicle for the family vacation, but the powerful sedan that most US petrolheads have been missing since the seventh-generation Impala was discontinued.
Now that the Australia-built vehicle reached US soil, we’ll finally get a chance to find out what the brand new SS is really capable of. But until then, there’s an extensive walkround uploaded on YouTube by “Saabkyle 04” that you might want to have a look at. You’ll probably find out everything you need to know about the 2014 SS, but most importantly you’ll hear the sedan’s astonishing exhaust note.
Although it features the same 6.2-liter V8 engine found in the Camaro SS, but with slightly less horsepower, the Holden Commodore-based delivers an exhaust sound that could rival just about any AMG-prepped Mercedes-Benz. But you don’t have to take our word for it, all you have to do is scroll below, hit the play button and find out for yourselves. And don’t forget to crank up the volume, V8 hell is about to be unleashed.
