If you live in Asia and want to buy an economical vehicle, or Ecocar as it’s known in the area, you might want to check the 2014 Toyota Yaris.
The new one ditches the 109 hp 1.5-liter engine for a smaller, more economical 86 hp 1.2-liter, to match the Ecocar specifications. Moreover, it has dual variable-valve timing control and a CVT to further increase the fuel efficiency.

Tested by Bangkok Post, they found another strong selling point for the new Yaris - its interior space, which is best in class. The rear passengers will be pleased with ample leg and headroom, while the flat flour design won’t make the middle passenger’s ride a torture.

Comparing it to its rivals on the local market, the reviewers said that the new Yaris’ interior “feels the most upmarket due to nicer looking plastics and stitching” making “a totally opposite end of the Honda Brio” for example.

Performance is similar to the competition, with power being delivered smoothly at city speeds, while more oomph can be had from the Sport feature of the CVT, which will better simulate high revving gears.

Competitively priced against its rivals, the new Toyota Yaris’ flavors include the E priced at 549,000 baht, the J at 519,000 baht and J Eco at 469,000 baht.
