Recently launched in Australia, the 2014 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is still wearing the same price for the basic model, despite its improvements.
Visually, the new Prado got a new imposing five-column grille, redesigned headlights with daytime running lights, a deeper bumper and new rims. Inside, you’ll find a redesigned dashboard, with a new multimedia audio system, different materials and colors, seven airbags, rear-view camera and some new off-road driving modes.
CarAdvice took the new Land Cruiser Prado for a spin, finding its front view camera when it comes to some serious off-roading involving big boulders on the way. Moreover, the 3-liter turbo-diesel aided by the crawl control system makes it an excellent off-roader, with the maximum torque coming in at 1,600 rpm, 2,800 less revs than the gasoline 4-liter V6 unit.
The Aussies opinion is that only a Land Rover Discovery 4 can top the new Land Cruiser Prado, so it definitely deserves a second thought when deciding to get a new SUV.
