Unlike the rest of the world, where a range of 5 models will be available, in the US BMW decided to launch only 2 variations of the new 2 Series, the 228i and M235i.
At the moment, the US will be the only country to receive the 228i model, a car fitted with a 2-liter turbocharged engine that develops 245 HP and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque and the automatic 8-speed gearbox as standard.

Those are not the only impressive facts about the new 228i, though. The car reaches 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 5.4 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) whilst returning an estimated fuel consumption of 27 mpg (8.7 l/100km).

The other model from the 2 Series range that will make its way into the US next year will be the M235i, the first ever M Performance Automobile to reach the North American shore.

The M235i will be using a 3-liter turbocharged engine with 326 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque hooked up to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with launch control and paddles. Of course, the 6-speed manual will also be available as a no cost option.

In this guise, the 2er reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.8 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), electronically limited. Since the car was considerably reworked and is lighter than it hatchback brother, the M135i, fun times are ahead of us.

Both of them will make their North American debut at the Detroit Auto Show and will begin deliveries in March 2014.
