With all the hype created around the new possible uber-small-coupe from BMW it was hard to keep track of what was true and what was not these days. Everyone published details about the M235i and even various photos of the new car but none were official, from the Bavarians.
Up until now. October 25th was promised and this is the day we get to look at the new car. As we reported, the new car is using a 3-liter turbocharged petrol engine with 326 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque.
The engine is not the only highlight of this car though. The chassis was also fine tuned with an improved aerodynamically optimized body design and a perfect interplay between the gearbox and the engine.
Speaking of the gearbox, the standard unit is a 6-speed manual with dry sump lubrication and a short shift facility for sporty gear changes. However, there's also the 8-speed automatic ZF unit that also has a Launch Control feature.
With Launch Control, the M235i reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) from a stand still in 4.8 seconds, whilst using the manual will take 0.2 seconds more. Furthermore, the 2 Series will have a Limited Slip Differential available as part of the M Performance Parts program, as promised.
