Yamaha has been in the lead after the first two days of the final official test at Jerez in Spain.
Despite the heavy rain which hampered the tests, Jorge Lorenzo finished day 1 with the best lap time, 1m47s423, followed closely by Honda's Dani Pedrosa, followed by Marc Marquez, Pramac Ducati rider Andrea Iannone, Michelle Piro (test rider) and Valentino Rossi. Nicky hayden switched positions with Piro and ended the day in the 7th position.

The second day of the Jerez tests has Valentino Rossi for the first time in the lead since his return to Yamaha. Given the better weather, Rossi managed a 1m39s525 best lap time, followed very closely by his team mate Jorge Lorenzo, only 15 thousandths of a second behind. Cal Crutchlow had the third time of the day, ahead of Pedrosa.

A notable 5th position went to Ducati's Dovizioso, followed by Alvaro Bautista and Marc Marquez. We can only assume that Marquez, for the first time aboard a MotoGP machine in his own country, was a bit too emotional and that's why he was slower during the two test days.

We're eager to see how will the tests at Jerez end: with Rossi and Yamaha showing some teeth back at Honda, the 2013 season will certainly be one of the most interesting ones in the last years.
