Mazda is still trying to be different, and despite seeming like it is following the herd, we say they have some clever plans up their sleeve, some of which are know, others currently not. One of these plans is the introduction of a special kind of regenerative braking.
You may be wondering what it would do on a conventionally-powered car? Well, the i-Eloop system stores braking energy in a capacitor, only to use the same stored power to run all the auxiliary systems, which are normally powered by the motor itself (fan, radio, electric windows, lights, air conditioning and engine control systems). This means that the engine will only power the wheels, and will do so more efficiently.

Mazda official figures point to an improvement of 5 to 10% in economy, and seeing their recent offerings, we have no reason to doubt them. The system has been previewed on the Takeri concept, and it will debut next year, on Mazda’s all-nex 6.

Factor in the already efficient SKYACTIV engines, clever (and light) body construction and the Takeri-inspired styling, and the new 6 is shaping up to be something quite special - so far, only the estate has been spotted, and sadly, it was covered by confusing camouflage, however, the car’s sleek lines are clearly visible.
