Stage 6 of the 2013 Dakar (Arica- Calama) brings a full podium for KTM, with Chile's Lopez in the 1st position, followed by Portuguese Faria and the favorite Despres in third.
However, in the overall ranking, the first three positions remain French, with Yamaha in 1 and 3 and KTM stuck between. Pain still leads in the overall, with Despres 2 and a half minutes behind and Casteu down with almost 5 minutes.

Stage 6 was a long one, too: 291 km of liaison and a 438 km-long special stage, with the last portion on a steep climb to an altitude above 3000 meters (9,850 ft). Lopez' bike lost a lot of power as himself declares, but he could not figure out why so it;s up to the mechanics to find the cause. Hopefully it's not the altitude, because this means such behaviour could continue in the high portions of the Dakar.

Husqvarna's Botturi and Barreda Bort finished Stage 6 in positions 21 and 27, while Goncalves was only the 66th. Notable racing for Despres' team mate Caselli, 4th in Stage 6, and Honda's Rodrigues who came in 7th, advancing to position 9 in the overall standings.
