Just about ready to introduce the 2014 Chevrolet Volt plug-in, General Motors has decide to offer a $4,000 discount on the 2013 model in order to sell the remaining 9,000 units from its inventory as fast as possible.
According to Inside EVs, who found out about the discount on the vehicle’s website, the 2013 Chevrolet Volt can be had for $35,995, instead of its usual $39,995 price tag. While the new incentive is not surprising at all, given the price cuts recently applied to the Nissan Leaf and the introduction of the Ford Fusion Energi, Chevy is willing to offer an additional $1,000 discount.
However, there’s a big BUT to the that grand you might save: To be eligible for the extra price cut, you’ll have to prove you’re currently leasing a non-GM vehicle.
With 7,157 units sold through May, the 2013 Chevrolet Volt should leave GM showrooms until July, to make room for the 2014 version, which won’t bring significant improvements by the way. All we have to do is wait for that “$7,000 to $10,000 cheaper" next-generation Volt...
