2012 Infiniti M35h Performance Details Confirmed

Nissan’ luxury brand, Infiniti, took the wraps off its first ever hybrid at the Paris Auto Show in October 2010, with the promise that it will start to market the model from this spring. Now, technical specifications and performance figures of the M35h model have been confirmed by Infiniti, placing it as one of the fastest and greenest V6-powered sedans available.

“The Infiniti M35h’s innovative one electric motor/two clutch hybrid system is complemented by the Infiniti hallmarks of low drag – the Cd is down to an impressive 0.26 – and lighter weight, the M35h weighing less than its M30d diesel sibling at 1830kg,” a company statement reads.

The unique Infiniti Direct Response Hybrid system makes use of a unique one motor, 2 clutch powertrain with compact Lithium-Ion battery.

The vehicle is powered by a 3.5l petrol V6 engine which develops 306 PS and 350 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm, working in conjunction with an electric motor rated at 68 PS.

The mix between the two technologies is enough to provide an acceleration time of 5.5 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), a fuel consumption figure of 6.99 l/100km (40.4 UK mpg) and a CO2 emission level of 162 g/km.

The new Infiniti M35h is also the first hybrid in the world to come with Approaching Vehicle Sound for Pedestrians (VSP) safety feature as standard, which uses a range of distinctive sounds to help ensure the safety of other road users.

Prices for the Infiniti M35h, which will be offered in either GT or GT Premium grades, are due to be announced closer to the Geneva Auto Show this March.
