2011 Simply Ford Show Heading for Beaulieu

The second annual Beaulieu ‘Simply Ford’ will takes place on Sunday, May 1st 2011, and promises to be a great day out for all Ford enthusiasts. All Ford owners are invited to join the event, which will be held in the grounds of the National Motor Museum to Beaulieu, in their vehicle, from the new Focus RS to the old MK1 Escort RS or even a Model T.

This year’s edition promises to be a special one, as Ford Motor Company will be displaying the Ford Heritage Collection Roadshow that celebrates 100 years of Ford in Britain. A number of hot vehicles will be on display, including the Model T from the early 1900s, a 1940s/50s Prefect, a Cortina Mklll from the 1970s and the present-day Focus RS.

Visitors will also get a chance to see the Ford Supervan 3. Originally built some 20 years ago when it was known as Supervan 2, this very special Transit has the heart. It is built on a Ford C100 race car chassis and powered by a mid-mounted Cosworth 650 hp F1 engine. Supervan 3 was unveiled in 1995, when it was displayed at the motor show in Birmingham.

This special van is estimated to have a top speed of around 150 mph (241 km/h) and should have acceleration figures which would make many sportscars look bad. Aerodynamic stability at high speed is aided by a deep front splitter and large rear wing.

All Ford owners taking part have an opportunity to enter the Pride of Ownership competition with the winner receiving a £100 cash prize and a Beaulieu trophy. Admission to the event (adult £10 and child £5) includes entry to the whole Beaulieu attraction, the National Motor Museum and World of Top Gear, Palace House, gardens and Beaulieu Abbey.
