The entry-level VTR will come equipped as standard with six airbags, ESP, Hill Start Assist, manual air conditioning, electric front windows, a six-speaker Surround Sound audio system and cruise control.
The base model is powered by a 1.4-liter VTi engine putting out 95 horsepower, but a selection of three BMW co-developed petrol engines and four efficient HDi diesel units is also available for the more demanding individual. An interesting feature in models fitted with a manual gearbox is the Gear Efficiency Indicator.
New C4 VTR+ and Exclusive models are available with Citroen’s innovative new micro-hybrid e-HDi system with EGS transmission, which delivers up to 67.3 mpg over a combined cycle and just 109g/km of CO2. The 6-speed EGS transmission has an ‘Auto’ setting and delivers lower fuel consumption than an equivalent manual transmission.
At the top of the range is the VTR+, which perfectly balances equipment and style. It adds alloy wheels, leather steering wheel, customizable color instrument binnacles, front fog lights with cornering function, rear parking sensors and a Connecting Box – Bluetooth hands free and USB socket. The semi-raised centre console with sliding armrest is also fitted from this trim level. When combined with the EGS transmission, the raised centre console offers a large refrigerated and illuminated compartment that can be closed with a sliding shutter.
Pricing for the new Citroen C4 range starts at GBP15,595 for the 1.4 VTi 95 hp VTR. The flagship Exclusive model powered by the 2.0HDi 150hp unit is priced at GBP21,495.
