2009 Mazda3 MPS Teaser Video

Mazda has just unveiled a brand new 2009 Mazda3 MPS teaser video showing the new model expected to be displayed at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. As you can see by yourself in the video published below the article, the new MPS model looks very appealing and way sportier compared to the base model of Mazda3. And because we're talking about sporty features, the MPS features a large hood scoop, probably for cooling the intercooler. The rear and the front fascia have also been slightly upgraded, now featuring minor bumper modifications plus dual exhausts and side sills.

For those of you who missed our previous report, the new Mazda3 MPS will be powered by a MZR 2.3-liter DISI (Direct Injection Spark Ignition) Turbo engine that complies with the Euro 5 fuel economy and emission standard.

Beside the aforementioned Mazda3 MPS, the 2009 Geneva Show will also showcase the new new i-stop variant, a special model which is said to be particularly focused on environmental and safety features. This model will be powered by the MZR 2.0 DISI engine that provides an estimated 12 percent lower fuel consumption in urban cycle than the current European Mazda3.

“These two models add extra value to an all-new Mazda3 lineup that has already shown strong appeal. The new Mazda3 series takes a significant step ahead in both the realms of driving performance and environmental technology to lead the way toward a new generation of motoring,” Mazda3 Program Manager, Yoshiyuki Maeda, said.
