Ford of Europe today announced the all-new 2009 Fiesta SportVan, a model obviously based on the standard Fiesta but providing a sportier look combined with upgraded standard equipment.

First of all, the engine. The SportVan incorporates a 1.6-liter Duratorq TDCi turbo diesel engine that delivers a maximum power of 90 PS (66 kW) and 212 Nm of torque. Fuel consumption and CO2 emission figures are at least impressive, with a notable 4.2 l/100km (67.3 mpg) in combined cycle and 110 g/km, respectively.

Secondly, the equipment. Fiesta SportVan comes with "Sport" suspension, with multiple standard features such as ABS, EBD, ESP, EBA, front airbags, seat-mounted side airbags for driver and passenger and knee airbag for the driver. Other standard features include fog lamps, heated front screen, power fold mirrors and Bluetooth support.

The car is by default fitted with 16-inch alloy wheels, body-colored sport bumpers, sport grille and large rear spoiler. A leather-wrapped 3-spoke steering wheel and optional sport-seats greet the driver inside the car. Air-conditioning and multi-funtion display for the on-board computer are available as standard.

"The SportVan versions of both Transit and Transit Connect and the previous Fiesta have already proved popular with owners and operators looking for something a bit different and great fun to use every day for their business," said Henrik Nenzen, Ford of Europe's Director for Commercial Vehicle Marketing and Sales. "The SportVan styling theme fits the new Fiesta van like a glove, and I'm sure we'll see many of these distinctive vehicles in the hands of our small van customers very soon!"
