The 1978 Corvette was all kinds of special. First, it marked Corvette's quarter-century anniversary, so it came with goodies to celebrate this achievement, including the two-tone silver paint and the front and rear medallions.
Second, the Corvette paced the 1978 Indianapolis 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, though the chosen model didn't sport the original paint used to celebrate the silver anniversary. Chevrolet went for black and silver metallic.

The 1978 Chevrolet Corvette L48, proudly wearing the Silver Anniversary paint, is a time capsule in amazing condition and ready to show everybody what the original model was all about.

Launched under an inspiring motto ("25 years of men, machines, and memories), the 1978 Corvette excelled in attention to detail, and this example is living proof. Everything you see on the car is completely original, and eBay seller aldom6004 says that once you open the door, you feel the same new-car smell as in 1978.

If you wonder how this is still possible after 45 years, it all comes down to the car's mileage. The Vette has spent most of its time in a garage, so its odometer indicates just 10K miles. They are all original, unmolested, unrestored, un-you call it, as the vehicle is a survivor with full documentation that has no idea what the rain or the snow is.

It rolled off the assembly lines with an L48 under the hood, and the garage in charge of finding a new owner says the car "drives fantastic." It's not surprising, though, as a Corvette in such an impressive shape and with just 10K miles on the clock is literally a new car.

The vehicle rolled off the assembly lines with plenty of options, including the awesome red leather interior (still looking incredible), power steering, power brakes, sports mirrors, rear window defogger, air conditioning, cruise control, and aluminum wheels. The Silver Anniversary paint, which could have been had for $399 in 1978, looks great, but you'll have to inspect it closely to see if it exhibits any dings or dents. I don't expect any surprises in this regard, but any potential buyer should thoroughly check out the paint, the undersides, the engine, and everything else thoroughly.

The rust isn't a concern, and it is not hard to figure out this Vette is a museum-grade survivor whose place should be in a wealthy collector's garage.

The good news is this special Corvette isn't the expensive survivor you would otherwise expect, especially considering the low miles. The owner wants $21,000 for the car, but they also enabled the Make Offer button if someone is interested in this Corvette but has another deal in mind. You can find the car in Plainview, New York, but you'll probably have to hurry up, as the listing expires in eight days and nearly 20 people are already monitoring it.
